Nothing here, as well.
I was trying to find some information about when the phones would ship and I went to the att.com/choosemyphone site and I got this.
So I guess we should expect the phones to ship any day now.Quote:
We're sorry, the order period for this account has ended. If you previously placed an order using this Website, your order will be shipped to your address on or about 2010-12-06.If you did not place an order, a free comparable replacement phone for each line on your account will be shipped to your address on or about 2011-01-01. If you would like to upgrade your phone or change your rate plan, you may do so within 30 days of activation.
Also AT&T has updated their wireless coverage map. In the Alltel buyout areas though they did not add GSM to the towers, only 3G UMTS/HSPA. So this should be better for us. AT&T coverage map
I am seriously considering switchin to Verizon, wife says ATT doesn't have service in Jackson where the farm is. They do show to have the area but apparently would be like Clintwood and don't have the towers. I almost made up my mind when flipping through channels this morning and saw on CNN some survey done said that ATT had the absolute worst cell service in the nation.
They do. It's horrible.
It won't seem like it's that bad in this area, just for the fact it's small and they didn't switch the towers over to the GSM network.
But in the larger scale, there are complaints all the time for the numerous calls dropped by ATT.
Comparing the Droid2 with the Droid2 Global this morning has pretty much made up my mind to go with Verizon. It is capable of using either GSM or CDMA networks and is B1G1.
As far as the free phone that was supposed to be shipped 12/4 haven't heard anything yet and when I go to the att.com/mobilityorderstatus and put in my order number or my cell number it says the info entered was not recognized by their system.
I went back and forth between going with AT&T and Verizon, since I'm not in a contract and could go either way. Ultimately I decided to go with AT&T because of price and service in the areas I'm in most. I'd had Verizon before, and the customer service was good when I had them. We still have the 30-day trial period at least. Either way, we'll have less service than we did with Alltel since there's no longer tower sharing.
My order status still says "processing"
So we wait...
Called and they said the phone's are set to ship end of this week early next.
I'm like you not in a contract so I can do whatever I want.
Anybody can do whatever they want in the first 30 days after activation. If you don't like the service all you have to do is return your free phone and say I want out. No ETF's the first 30 days after activation. After the 30 days though your original contracts will be in place.
According to a very reliable source over at Howard Forums we should receive a text or voicemail today stating that our phones have shipped and the official network launch will be on Friday. So hopefully we will receive our phones by the first of next week.
